Reframing Workplace cadence for better teaming
BLOG 162: Workplace cadence for better teaming
How do teams best use the Workhub in this new world of work?
June 2020
The Covid-19 virus has disrupted and rearranged the workplace with breathtaking speed. Many teams and their leaders have shifted from being co-located to remote to nowadays a shuffle between the workplace and working from home – requiring a hybrid mode of teaming. This shift has placed greater importance on evolving our techniques to support hybrid teaming to break down silos and strengthen organisation-wide innovation. We are looking at the new purpose and use of the workplace in light of the revelations and challenges from our recent working from home experiences.
Seizing the opportunity to continue to stretch what we have learned
We’ve been hearing callouts recently - We’ve been working seperately in 50/50 split but we now want to explore the best ways for teams to share space cross-functionally?
Be Confidents focus is currently centred on finding the data behind the lockdown experiments
1. Extracting insights from team learnings
2. Zeroing in on teaming experiences and the opportunities for sharing space in a re- purposed workplace or as we now thinking of space as a Workhub. Considering alternative ways for teams to share space cross-functionally to ensure teams maximise benefits from returning and finance gets the most out of your space costs.
3. Identifying enduring and flexible work patterns using analytical applications, workstyle profiling and/or workspace practices.

Curating shared spaces and creating cadences are ways of best enabling hybrid teaming, addressing cultural impacts and maintaining productivity. Ways that ensure teams maximise 2 benefits of returning to the physical place of work while ensuring the economics of space stack up for the finance team. In creating cadences for people to be in the presence of each other with the view to reducing cross-team gaps, there remains opportunity to continue to stretch what is possible in the virtual world.

Flex In/Flex Out
To better define Split modes of working Be Confident has coined the phrase FLEX IN & FLEX OUT where we talk to Flexibility of work.
Where FLEX IN is flexibility within the walls of the office environment and FLEX OUT as being flexibility beyond the office environment. FLEX IN considers the provision of movement inside the workplace between teams ,moving to perform a particular activities for teams and individuals.
